Another rambling chapter of Shaka music, one side song and one dub,
in touch with his own roots tradition as well as absorbing more recent influences. Lyrically Shaka remains a
voice of encouragement and righteousness: 'We've got to keep trying to reach the top' ("Know Yourself"), 'Jah
gives instructions to mankind to live upright' ("Do The Right Thing"), echoes by double-tracking or dense harmony,
backed by roots beat with many enlivening touches; the descending bassy piano of "Do The Right Thing", the
eerie surges of synthesised strings on "Be Like A Lion" and "Giver Of Life" and a discreet use of electronics;
the digital beeps on "Know Yourself", the flute-organ sound of "Be Like A Lion", the syndrum whoop on "All
Things". In the dub the bass drops, angry electronics buzz in and that endangered reggae species, the rhythm
guitar, chops, echoing, in and out of the mix. One of his best - get the message.
