Jah Shaka`s short lived connection with Island Records also
resulted in the release of this selection of tracks, though credited as the mixes played exclusively on
Shaka`s sound system, I doubt this is strictly true. "Institution Dub", for instance, appeared previously
on Burning Spear's "Living Dub" album. This doesn't mean there is a con going on though as many of the
other tracks, most noticeably the Aswad ones, receive different mixes from those previously released,
and tracks like "Very Well Dub" (the dubwise piece to the Wailing Souls classic Channel One recording),
"Mosman Skank" (Aswad's "Love Fire", also known for the crucial version by Dennis Brown as "Promised Land")
and the killer "Carry Us Beyond" (credited to Human Cargo, who in their better known alter ego are in fact
also Aswad) are indeed tunes that Shaka would and still does mash up a dance with.
